Nordic Council of Ministers for Digitalisation - MR-DIGITAL
The Nordic Council of Ministers forms the regional cooperation between the ministers of the Nordic countries. The Nordic ministers responsible for digital government meet in the Nordic Council of Ministers for Digitalisation (MR-DIGITAL) along with Baltic colleagues. The Danish Minister for Finance represents Denmark in MR-DIGITAL.
The governments of the Nordic countries cooperate in the Nordic Council of Ministers to promote and strengthen Nordic interests and values globally. The Nordic Council of Ministers comprises Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Åland. In addition, MR-DIGITAL also includes the ministers responsible for digital government in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Denmark takes an active role in Nordic-Baltic cooperation on digital government. As part of the Danish presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2020, the Agency for Digitisation and the Ministry of Finance were responsible for the ministerial declaration Digital North 2.0. Digital North 2.0 was adopted by the ministers on 8 October 2020, and it sets out the focus and ambitions of MR-DIGITAL for the period 2021-2024.
During the presidency in 2020, the Agency for Digitisation also prioritised the following activities:
- Establishing a forum for cooperating on cross-border digital services to underpin the implementation of the Single Digital Gateway Regulation,
- A mapping of how digital technology can accelerate the green transition,
- A GovTech study,
- A conference on the role of digital government in AI, GovTech, data exchange, and the green transition.
