Various security measures ensure security for users of the driving licence app (Danish: kørekort-app), as well as validity of the ID.

Security for the end-user has been at the forefront of the app since its inception. During set-up the resident’s identity is determined and verified through use of their passport, Danish eID (MitID), and the physical driver’s license, which ensures the strong validity of the resident’s ID.

Furthermore, a number of features are included in the app, to ensure a safe and data-ethical end-user experience.

App security features

The features of the driving licence app include:

  • The use of timed dynamic QR-codes (a progressive rotation of shown QR-codes), ensures the validity of exchanged data.
  • Background animation and colour changing watermark, to ensure the card shown is not a fraudulent screenshot, during visual ID-checks.
  • Access to the app requires biometric log-in, as to avert access not authorized by the end-user.
  • In case of a phone being stolen or lost, it is possible to reset the app at the digital citizen portal borger.dk, to prevent malicious access to the app.
